Blizzard have been receiving a lot of attention in the gaming world recently. A few recent game announcements including Overwatch 2 and the controversial Diablo Immortal have caught the attention of fans around the globe. As players eagerly await more information on these titles, including an Overwatch 2 release date, the company have secretly been working on a new unannounced project.
A job listing on the Blizzard careers website for an Associate Content Designer was discovered recently by Exputer. The job is based at the company headquarters in Irvine, California to join a team working on an unannounced project.
“Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented and passionate associate content designer to collaborate with our design team for an unannounced project. As an associate content designer, you will foster Blizzard’s core value of ‘Gameplay First’ as you collaborate with a team of designers, engineers, and artists responsible for crafting this unannounced project’s world.”
The job listing mentions key aspects of the upcoming project including it having “open world content” and “RPG reward mechanics.” Candidates for the role will also have to have experience working on online/multiplayer FPS games.
Blizzard already has a few RPG games, Diablo and WoW being the biggest, and they also have FPS games like Overwatch. However, there isn’t any game that combines all of these into an open world, with multiplayer. Meaning the job listing will be for a new franchise for the company.
There is no mention of what platform the game will be on, although another listing on Blizzards website does mention an unannounced mobile game.
