Rockstar Games finally give fans a look at what they can expect from the GTA: Trilogy Definitive Edition which includes GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, but fans can’t make up their minds about the games’ new visuals.
All three games are keeping their original style but with them being slightly upgraded for the next-gen consoles, gameplay changes have also been implemented including a new ‘checkpoint’ system and a weapon wheel straight from Grand Theft Auto V.
Despite the new upgrades, the reaction from fans has been very mixed with some fans praising the new look and other expecting a lot more from the ‘remakes’.
A lot of fans were expecting visuals on par with Grand Theft Auto V, with improved polycount and better physics. “They did the bare bones and said HERE,” one fan posted to Twitter after seeing the trailer. “They could’ve at least completely upgraded to graphics to GTA 5.”
Another compared the look to Fortnite because of the new brighter colours. Some compared the game to the Mafia remasters, claiming that “at least [they] delivered.”
Other fans came to Rockstar’s defence saying they’re pleased with the changes being made and can’t wait to play the game on November 11.
“For the people who expected GTA V graphics you are all insane. This is perfect they have kept it true to the originals with a nice adjustment to the visuals,” one fan wrote, defending the remakes. “A full remake probably would have never captured the magic of the original games.”
Despite the complaints and criticism, the game will still probably sell incredibly well, especially for those gamers looking for a hit of nostalgia.
