Goldeneye 007 was once classed as “media that is harmful to young persons’ especially in Germany. Where the game has been banned since 1997 for that exact reason, a recent move saw Germany unban the game. Sparking rumours of a re-release.
Other titles have also been removed from the list, including Blood Rayne, and Blood Rayne 2. After 25 years anything on the list is automatically removed which is why it’s very suspicious that Goldeneye was removed after 24, clearly an intentional move.
This comes as interesting news as Blood Rayne and Blood Rayne 2 have already been confirmed to receive remasters, so could it be the case that we see Goldeneye follow suit? Another tell tale sign is that Nintendo’s eShop is based in Germany for Europe, so if the title was to remain on this list it would not be shown in the store or sold anywhere in Europe.
So, could it be that a Goldeneye 007 re-release is in the works? Or perhaps something for next-gen consoles?
After all it was recently revealed that Microsoft had to place a full remaster that was complete on the back burner after running into some licensing issues, the title was for Xbox 360 but never actually made it into the gaming community.
It looks like we will have to hang on see what the future holds for Goldeneye 007.
