One Call of Duty: Warzone developer has revealed the reason why a Field of View slider has not yet been added to console despite players calling out for the addition.
Console players have been crying out for a FOV slider to be added to the game since it launched back in March 2020, the feature is currently accessible to gamers using PC which allows them a wider field of vision.
Unfortunately, console players are limited to 80 FOV and have been since the game launched over two years ago.
This means that PC players are at an advantage over console players which can sometimes prove to be an issue while cross-playing.
Recently in a Q&A session with streamer Swagg, he asked about the possibility of getting a FOV slider in the future, however it seems that the answer isn’t quite what fans wanted to hear.
The dev said “We still have a very large portion of our players coming in on previous-gen consoles”.
“If we allow it, then it’s a slider to lower your frame rate, and introduce potential bugs and crashes”.
“If we just allow it on next-gen consoles, the concern we have is that it keeps further widening the skill gap. It’s hard to dispute, for us at least, that a wider FOV allows you to see more, and if a large proportion of our audience is on last-gen, they’re at a detriment now and everyone else is cranked. I worry that we’re going to make it even more toxic of an experience.”
Although players are hoping that we could be seeing a FOV slider arrive when Warzone 2 finally launches, but in the meantime be sure to check back with us at VGN for the latest news and updates.
